artist statement

As an artist and choreographer, my work explores the intersections of identity, culture, and social dynamics. Rooted in my background in dance, improvisation, and visual design, I blend universal and introspective themes—from gender to memory—through an uncanny and often absurdist lens. By combining natural and surrealist imagery, I aim to engage audiences with complex concepts in a way that feels both approachable and thought-provoking. My work invites reflection while maintaining an element of playfulness, encouraging viewers to connect with underlying themes on their own terms.

My creative process is guided by emotion and intuition, allowing the medium to follow naturally. A single image, phrase, or fleeting thought often anchors my projects, lingering in my mind until I can realize it physically. Movement remains a central pillar of my practice, but it is frequently accompanied by other elements—such as text, props, or fabrication—to create immersive, multidimensional experiences. As a storyteller and worldbuilder, I aim to transform the invisible patterns and dialogues that dominate my thoughts into tangible, resonant works that invite both introspection and engagement.

Deeply committed to fostering safe and inclusive spaces, I view artmaking as a mutual exchange between the creative and the community. This perspective drives me to challenge conventions and queer traditional boundaries in an attempt to reveal authentic and original narratives that resonate across diverse audiences. I see art as a collaborative endeavor, one that thrives on the interplay of personal expression and shared experience. Through my work, I aim to cultivate environments that inspire connection, spark meaningful dialogue, and encourage transformation—reflecting a collective and inclusive artistic vision. By uplifting voices often relegated to the margins, particularly within queer and women’s communities, I hope to contribute to a broader dialogue about art’s capacity to heal, empower, and bring people together.
